Distinct Groomsmen Shoes
When it comes to taking a walk down the aisle, one thing is certain; grooms need stylish -- and comfortable-shoes. Whether they're hittin' the dance floor or working the crowd, grooms are on their feet, and this is one event that calls for shoes of the utmost distinction. Here, five shoes every groom and his groomsmen should consider. The Hipster: Belgian Shoes Belgian Shoes have long adorned the feet of those in the know. Designed by Henry Bendel in the 1940s, these cult favorites have a distinct and classic style that suits every wedding theme. Available in a variety of colors and skins, these comfortable shoes are manufactured from the inside out and will have you gliding across the dance floor like Fred Astair. ($350, belgianshoes.com) The Trendsetter: Stubbs & Wootton With a reputation for personality and exclusivity, Stubbs & Wootton are tres chic any day of the year. Whether paired with lime green slacks or a custom tux, these whimsical slippers feature a variety of embroidered emblems (think dueling jousters, crests, vintage tennis racquets and golf clubs) and are a must-have for any fashionable groom. For those seeking the ultimate in originality, try out Stubbs' new monogram-it-yourself section on their Web site (they offer a selection of hand embroidered monograms in silver and 18 carat gold wire). ($395+, stubbsandwootton.com) The Connoisseur: Santoni This family-owned company based in Corridonia, Italy, is the one of the world's most luxurious men's shoe purveyors. With Santoni expect master craftsmanship with a toe-up on style. Their Madison Avenue (NY) boutique (now their only U.S. store) features a variety refined styles as well as their piece de resistance -- the fully-handmade shoe. ($250+, Santonishoeusa.com) The Classic: Alden Shoes With a presidential stamp of approval from the likes of JFK, Nixon and Eisenhower, this distinguished brand -- founded in 1884 and considered New England's last original shoe and bootmaker -- has remained unchanged for many decades. A true believer in traditional shoe styles, most of the oxfords, wingtips, loafers and moccasins (our personal favorite) have remained unchanged for decades. Their main storefront is in San Francisco (CA), however, the entire catalog is viewable online and custom group orders can be placed over the phone. ($280+, Aldenshop.com) The Beachgoer: Rainbow Sandals Founded in 1974, Rainbow Sandals is a California-based company (their factory is a must-see!) that manufactures flip-flops ideally suited to a seaside wedding. Crafted by hand, these durable sandals are the perfect accompaniment to a linen suit or blue blazer and short-fueled affair. While the company offers a variety of styles and colors, we dig the Premier Leather Double Arch sandals -- the rich leather hue is a huge improvement. What's more? Their straps are lined with 2,000 lb test nylon and are guaranteed for the life of the sole. (Editor's note: Not known for lightness of foot? These sandals may need to be ditched for dancing.)
